The Position
As the Diabetes Educator your responsibilities will include:
- Provide safe, effective, patient centred care of highly developed knowledge, skills and experience in diabetes education and management that is aligned with best practice guidelines in Diabetes
- Provide education and support to nursing staff to safely care for people with Diabetes who attend our facility. Contribute to the professional development of other healthcare workers/students in diabetes management
- Identify, contribute to and evaluate standards of nursing practice and policies within the specialist area of diabetes and/or endocrinology, to optimise outcomes in diabetes and promote improved health outcomes for clients
- Manage resources, oversee the appropriate maintenance and storage of Diabetes equipment
- Undertake research and development, service planning and education activities to meet clinical and nursing needs in Diabetes Education.
The Location
Located on the Gold Coast
Essential Criteria
- Have completed or is currently completing the post Graduate qualification in Diabetes Education which is recognised by the Australian Diabetes Educators association and either be or working towards credentialing with the Australian Diabetes Educator association
- Have experience in working in Diabetes Education in a similar position
- Have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and be able to work well within a team
- Highly developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to prevent and manage conflict
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with people who have Diabetes and their care givers
- To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and act as a preceptor to members of this team
